Hello,

I'm a new member here, just came across this site. My oldest son had spinal fusion surgery in 2005 with Dr. Peter Newton, Rady Children's Hosp. in San Diego. My youngest son is currently being monitored by Dr. Newton also. He just turned 11 and was diagnosed with 22T curve in April. Still deciding on whether or not to try bracing. I have scoliosis also and was braced as a teen w/Milwaukee brace. Years of bracing didn't work for me and should have had surgery at 18 but didn't. Now reeaally feeling the affects

Oh, I try to avoid that website like the plague but it's addictive too! When you have no choice to which doctor you are referred to and then you read that they have botched several surgeries or something, it's terrifying to walk through that office door!

Hi Angie123, I'm also looking for a scoliosis specialist in Southern Ontario. I'm 48 and have developed scoliosis after a bad work accident along with nerve damage, degenerative disc disease etc.... Where are you located? I live in Georgetown ON, just west of Toronto. Hopefully we'll both find someone in our area soon, I'm getting so frustrated.
Take care, Patty

I was treated by both these doctors as well! First by doctor Hedden when he was still at Sick Kids (and I was actually not very pleased with him - don't want to offend anyone.) and I later found Dr. Rivard and commuted to Montreal for years and he was AMAZING.

I just realized I had previously made a username on SSO and forgotten about it! I wanted to update my consultant recommendation. While Dr. Moskovitz is a great orthopedist, I have found out that he is a general spine specialist and not a scoliosis specialist. He is also, to my knowledge, not in the SRS (his name does not appear on their physician search). So while he is great for sports injuries or more general spine problems, I would no longer recommend him specifically for scoliosis consultations or surgeries.

I am currently seeing Dr. Michael Ain at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD instead. He has not yet performed a surgery on me, but he seems well-regarded, is in the SRS, and has a great bedside manner. Also, his administrative assistant and the whole hospital in general are amazingly efficient and helpful. I would recommend him instead for scoliosis specialists near the DC / MD area.
