Default This time 20 years ago..... was a Sunday, and I was having my admission for surgery finalised. Most years I don't notice until the date has gone past, but I figured 20 years was worth remembering

I'm really sorry I haven't been around for the last 8 or 9 months. I'm afraid that having my second son premature and initially very sick, then having to re-start my study (I'm studying with the Open University, and thanks to the major increase in course fees, I *have* to continue to study or I'll lose "transitional" fees, and cannot afford the current full rate), and then having Gabriel become very ill again due largely to being severely anaemic (as a result of medical oversight *grr*), and having been quite ill a couple of times myself, one way and another I've just found it very difficult to try to get back to anything else.

However, we've finally reached a point where I actually get to have a little bit of time to do things other than spend all of my time trying to entertain a bored baby - he is a much happier little person now that he is able to crawl, stand and cruise the furniture, so other than needing eyes in the back of my head, there is more potential for actually getting back to spending some time here
Diagnosed at 15 with 50 curve, but probably juvenile IS. Fused in kyphosis (by non-specialised ortho) with a/p surgery T10-L2 @ 21, posterior only revision surgery to correct kyphosis @ 29. Now 38 with further revision surgery and extension of fusion to sacrum required to correct residual kyphosis, restore lordosis and address spinal stenosis.

It's so good to have you back Titch, I'm just sorry you've been having such a tough time

I bet it doesn't feel like 20 years! It's been 20 years in July since I had my lumbar fusion and first costoplasty. Madness!
37 years old, diagnosed with infantile idiopathic scoliosis at 6 months old with curves of 62(T) and 40(L) degrees. Casting and Milwaukee braces until surgery at 10 - ant release/pos fusion T1-T12, halo traction. Post op cast and then TLSO. Further surgery at 18 (ant release/pos fusion extended to L3 to include lumbar curve, costoplasty) and 25 (another costoplasty). Fusion extended to L4 at 33 (XLIF with 4 pedicle screws and two short rods). Pre-op curves: 76(T) and 70(L). Post-op curves: 45(T) and 35(L). Diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome aged 34; scoliosis almost certainly due to this rather than being idiopathic.
