Default A question about pre-surgery tests

Can I ask if anyone knows how long the 'window' is between pre- surgery tests and the op? I presume if too much time elapses the tests have to be re-done?

Hi there!

I had my pre-op 2 days before the operation. Usually it is very close to the surgery date so it's most likely that will happen to you but I think I've heard of a few people getting it a few weeks before.

Hope this helps!

I had pre-op tests with my primary ordered by my surgeon, "ekg, blood work, urine sample, and chest ex-rays" last week on Wednesday, i have more tests at my surgeons office " over an hour from home" Monday the 28th, then at 5am Tuesday the 29th MY FUSION!
Hope that helps? Best of luck!!

Well, I hope they give us more than a couple of days notice.
Apart from the practical stuff I'll need to organise, I'll have to compose myself so that my little girl doesn't see how worried I'll be about her.
Mrs. Krier, all the very best for your op.

i had my tests a few weeks back - i'm told the tests have a 'lifespan' of 2 months after which time they need re-doing

The pre-ops usually last are good for about 3 months or less depending on your hospital. i cant remember when i had mine, i think it was late February/ early March of that period of time, nothing much changes really within that time, as i had some way back in august last year, and then again earlier this year and all seemed to be the same on them. And i then had the surgery at the beginning of May. But yes, if too much time goes by after you had them, they'll have to be redone.

Hope this helps,
Jay
