Default Issues with the new site?

If you discover problems with the new site, eg you can't do something you used to be able to, or don't have access to somewhere you should, please post about it in here.

While I have tried to get the permissions correct, right from the start, it is entirely possible that there are some that are missing, so please do let us know if you run into any problems.

Thanks!

Titch, I think you've worked marvels here! One thing I find a little bemusing though ... we all seem to have joined in January 1970 - even Maddy who wasn't born until 23 years later!!!

I know - like the passwords failing to make it across, it's another of the little quirks! I suspect we can reconstruct it given a bit of time, I'll have to basically find out what the internal database field is called in this forum system, and extract the appropriate field from the backups of the old system. It's a job for another time though!

Awww gee Gilly, I just came in here to mention that XD Ya beat me to it =P

I can't get into the General Discussions forum atm...it says the database has encountered an error...not too sure whether this is a problem with a site, the school internet or what...just thought I'd mention it.

Server needed a reboot. Lorian just got me on MSN to say "loads of errors from someone called madmclw, looks like they're trying something that isn't working" (any errors go straight to his email box, so that he can monitor whether the sites he hosts are working, to limit down time)

Anyway, should be ok again now - the operating system had a hissy fit by the look of it!

I think it should be a simple bit of SQL to get the dates sorted out (something along the lines of uploading the old member table to the server then SQL similar to UPDATE new_member_table SET new_member_table.date_joined = old_member_table.date_joined WHERE new_member_table.member_name = old_member_table.member_name for the geeks among you.)

i don't have a problem but i wanted to say that i really like the new profiles, with the bits about what sort of surgery you've had, whether you've been braced/cast etc. brilliant! is there a way that members can search for all people who've had for example anterior surgery, so that stories can be easily read? or is that too complicated a thing? just curious, as it may benefit new or shy members who want to read some of our stories.

Ah, I'm glad you like them They'll probably need some work yet, as the options are just what I was able to dash off quickly, so they may not be terribly well thought out in some cases. As to searching on them, click Members List (3rd option on the navbar at the top), and at the top right of the member list click Search Members, then select Advanced. You can only search on selection fields, and I haven't had time to test how it works with the ones where multiple selection is allowed, so I have no idea how well it works with them - definitely works well with the single selection ones though

I can't log in as Pauline for some reason. I've tried every password I can think of and none have worked. When I put in a New Password request, it gave one for the DublinPauline account.
THanks for any help on this!
Pauline

I've replied to your email regarding this As I said in that, I'll also change your posts as DublinPauline to become part of your Pauline account, so that there's no confusion.

Hi Titch,

Just wanted to say that I love your family picture...are you married to Jamie Theakston?!

According to the photographer, I'm married to a Bond villain! Actually, the photo that was in reference to really does have him looking like he ought to be stroking a white persian and talking in a sinister voice

We would never even have considered a photo shoot like the one we had done, but I won it, and the photos were great
