    Default Muscle Pain

    Hi All

Just Wandering has any one experienced pain with their little one, Conor woke up in real pain last night crying that he had a pain in his foot, its not the first time that he has complained of this pain in his foot, he went for an x ray on it last year, but nothing was found, just wandering would it have anything to do with the scoliosis

    regards
    Tara

Can't imagine it would be anything to do with scoliosis. Maybe growing pains?

It might be worth checking out next time you see his scoliosis team whether they think that he might have a recognisable connective tissue disorder. Quite a few of us here have them, tonibunny has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and I almost certainly have a different form of it (depending on which notes you look at for me, it says either EDS or HMS, ie joint hypermobility syndrome). Anyway, the point being that one of the associated problems you get with a lot of these things is flat feet, which can be prone to being painful. As such it might be worth getting checked out for this, as simple things such as orthotic inserts for shoes can make a world of difference

Anyway, I hope the pain clears up and he doesn't continue to be bothered by it
Diagnosed at 15 with 50 curve, but probably juvenile IS. Fused in kyphosis (by non-specialised ortho) with a/p surgery T10-L2 @ 21, posterior only revision surgery to correct kyphosis @ 29. Now 38 with further revision surgery and extension of fusion to sacrum required to correct residual kyphosis, restore lordosis and address spinal stenosis.

    thanks guys

titch i said it to the doctor about a year ago said i thought there might be something else other than scoliosis but he said that he was fine, regarding the flat foot he has quiet a high instep, more the opposite of flat foot but he is double jointed and has the pectus excavatum, (pigeon chest) ill have to put it to him again as i feel there is something more.

    thanks for the reply

    Hi,
Oliver had really bad pain in his foot after his operation and I though they had caught a nerve and kept telling Mr Tucker. We then went to see our local orpho chap who said it was Plantar fasciitis (please google it!) some special insoles sorted it out but it does come and go but with special exercises it does help. If the pain is bad first thing in the morning then this could be PF but I understand it is like a string of a bow under the foot which becomes too tight and then needs easing. Maybe check out PF on google and see it it fits!

by the way this is not connected to his back issues and I think quite common. Ollie is hypomobile too and another child he knows has PF and also hypombile but I do not think there is a connection to this.
