Re: Should I be doing this?

I would be very wary of doing that exercise.
My fusion is similar to yours and I can only do that very slightly.
I would say do it very very very gently until you feel the slightest pain and then...

Re: Should I have the Scoliosis Operation? :) New here.

Hi Kimberly,

Re: marriage/kids

Obviously there is a genetic element but at the moment they cannot predict who will develop it.
In my family it skips a generation. So I have it and my cousins have it and our grandparents had it but...

Re: Article about sisters with scoliosis in today's Daily Mail

In my family scoliosis skips a generation. My parents and their siblings/cousins do not have it but some of their parents had it, and some of their children have it. So while I will be checking my...

Re: Tell me the downsizes that you have experienced after the surgery

I can't think of many downsides.

I am fused from T2 to L2 but I can still touch my toes. I had to stop gymnastics because bascially when I bend over my back is flat like a table, so no back flips...

Re: New in UK-what to begin with?

Hi Lena,

When my back began to curve we went first to the GP, then a "back specialist" then to a consultant who specialised in scoliosis. Back then we had no idea what it was and no internet to...

Re: Your First Experience of Hospital

I'll add one or two.

No matter how much pain you are in, don't ever ask to lie on your front for the post-op Xray, that was even more painful.

Don't let other patients get you down and tell you...

Gosh Mark, what a rough time you have had, I'm glad you are on track now.

You sound very positive, in fact everyone on here is so positive in the face of difficulty.

Re: Am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks Mark, it's so nice to talk to people who know what scoliosis is and what I am on about! My husband is so supportive, he only wants me to do what I am happy with.

How is your recovery coming...

Re: Am I worrying about nothing?

Wow you are an inspiration Toni, thanks for explaining your situation to me. I suppose I was lucky in a way, my scoliosis developed in September 1983 when I was 16 and by Feb '84 I had stopped...

Re: Am I worrying about nothing?

That made me laugh :D

Thanks Cherrybird, I suppose I knew it was possible to break a rod but I haven't looked into how likely that scenario is until now. I've been living with scoliosis on my own...

Re: Am I worrying about nothing?

Hi Toni,

thanks for the warm welcome and encouraging comments.
I did read the post you referred to and I was so suprised to hear that people still ride after their surgery. I was told in no...

My story is I had a severe scoliosis...
