Re: Things you CAN do with a fused spine

It saddens me to even think that people aren't capable of doing what they did before they had surgery. I've read plenty of comments from young girls who used to dance and cheer who have completely...

Re: Effectiveness of surgery at alleviating pain?

Oh no, I didn't get the fusion because of cosmetic reasons. I got it because my Scoliosis is progressing and I didn't want it to progress anymore.

Re: UTI's and surgery?

At my pre op, the nurse I talked to told me that if I came down with a cold, the smallest cold ever, they will reschedule my surgery. She went on to explain that it's better to get well from the...

Re: Effectiveness of surgery at alleviating pain?

My orthopedic made sure to tell me that sometimes surgery does not rid the pain. He told me that I should reconsider the surgery if it was for cosmetic reasons only, since I said, I don't have back...

Re: weightloss after surgery

I didn't lose any weight while in the hospital. I didn't use my morphine pump as often. I didn't have pain and the pain I did have I could handle. I hear that the morphine is what keeps you from...

Re: Itchy Back?

Thanks guys. I talked to my ortho and he put me on Atarax. I'm suppose to take it four times a day, but I'm only taking it when I get itchy because that stuff will knock me out.

Itchy Back?

I'm two weeks post op. I'm still on all kinds of medications. But one thing I can't get rid of is the itchiness in my back. It's not the scar that is itchy. I believe it's the muscles that were held...

Re: New at this

Hello Beth,

The reason why I got the surgery done was to stop progression. I didn't do it because of cosmetic reasons. I knew going in that there may be causes after a long time of having a spinal...

Re: To fuse or not to fuse? Back pain ruining my life

Hi Adam,

I suggest going to see a physical therapist. I saw one in 2010 and he helped me a great deal. He saw the x-rays, and after a few test of how far I can bend over and from side to side, he...

I stopped having check ups at 16 years old because my doctor said my bones were maturing now, it won't get worse. But that was not the case, it did. I grew to 5 feet, then lost 2 inches, but after...
