Re: Flatback or something else?

If you tend to lean forward, especially when you try to straighten your knees, then it's very likely you have symptoms of flatback. The diagrams below show the different alignments of the spine in...

Re: Spinal Fusion Recovery Problem

I know this is going to be incredibly hard to do, but please try not to worry too much. It's far more likely that you will have sustained some muscle strain than done any damage to your fusion, but...

Re: Surgery Scheduled 7 November

Hi there :welcome:

It's a very difficult question answer because a lot depends on how active you are before surgery as to how much it will affect your quality of life afterwards. I was in so much...

Re: Help! at my wits end and totally depressed

I think you need to request a change of consultant Netty, this one doesn't seem to have much in the way of compassion and I'm sure someone should be able to help you surgically.

Most of the growth your son has left will be in his limbs now rather than his torso, so shouldn't make a huge impact on his final height. I would be tempted to go along with the advice of his surgeon.

Re: New to forum

All surgeons have to inform their patients of every possible risk in having surgery but in reality, these risks are very tiny, especially the more serious ones, since they use spinal cord monitoring...

Re: How to deal with protruding screws?

The area where my back still protrudes a bit is also where I have a lot of hardware very near to the surface and I do still find hard chairs a real issue so I try my best to either avoid them or,...

Re: new: question on bras

Hi there Betty :welcome:

The issue most of us have is one of the straps slipping down due to sloping shoulders, for which the racer back sports bras work wonders. However, your daughter's problem is...

Re: Im home since Sunday

Movicol is the same sort of product as Fibogel, I had it and it found it very helpful :)

The leaning could be as a result of your hardware being removed so it's important that your surgeon is aware...

Re: Im home since Sunday

Glad to hear you're home but very sad to hear of your problems. I also had problems with constipation and I think it's a condition which is often severely underestimated in terms of the pain it...

Re: Is there any Irish Members on Site

The Magec (magnetic) rods tend to only be used up to the age of 10 in girls and 12 in boys to attempt to slow down progression whilst still allowing the spine to 'grow'.
This is probably why your...

Re: Jaw pain...
