PS your curve looking worse in photos can be due to muscles/soft tissue tightening on side and stretching on the other. Xrays are the best indication of curves but if your posture is worsening you...

I do agree that surgeons (obviously, this is all in my experience) can be a bit hard to navigate because they are very pro surgery and can downplay concerns...
