Re: Is there any Irish Members on Site

The Magec (magnetic) rods tend to only be used up to the age of 10 in girls and 12 in boys to attempt to slow down progression whilst still allowing the spine to 'grow'.
This is probably why your...

Re: Nicol's op cancelled

Oh no, poor Nicol - and you and hubby too of course :( I don't think surgeons realise what a lot of organisation needs to go into supporting a child having the kind of surgery. I think it should be...

Re: Jaw pain...

Re: please god, don't let Nicol get a cold!

My advice would be to get him to use 'First Defence' nasal spray (made by Vicks). I used it before my surgery and it definitely helped me to ward off a...

Re: Need to hear from the voice of experience

Hi Chris :welcome:

I had surgery at 49 for an 80 degree scoliosis curve and then revisions (because one level didn't fuse properly), the last one being almost 2 years ago when I was 55. I am fused...

Re: Hip pain! Scoliosis related?

Oh, it was all to do with my lack of natural lordosis and the orientation of my pelvis. In a weird way I could kind of compensate for it before surgery but once my spine was fused it revealed the...

Re: Are you happy with your operations

Well, personally I am very happy with the quality of life I have now compared to before my surgery. It has been quite a long and difficult journey to get to this stage though, since I had an area of...

Re: Appointment while at uni...

I think I would stay with the same surgeon and try to arrange appointments in term time as I think continuity of care, wherever possible, is really important. Obviously, for anyone who wasn't happy...

Re: New Member

Hi Jenko :welcome2:

So sorry to hear of your problems, it sounds as though you've been through the mill :( In a way, it makes me realise how lucky I was to 'slip through the net' in my younger days...

Re: Cervical Curve

I think Jaymoe's curve involved cervical vertebrae, it was certainly very high, so he may be able to help you on this one Burdle.

Re: mri referral

The only other thing I can suggest is to write a letter directly to the consultant (marked 'private and personal'), they are duty bound to reply, although whether it would work within your time...

Re: How to get through School?

Hello there :welcome:

My first suggestion would be to take a cushion to use on the school chairs. It doesn't have to be anything big, a small blow-up camping cushion would be ideal and easy to carry...

Re: mri referral

Oh Burdle, this really is just rubbish :(

I needed to e-mail my own consultant (Ashley Cole) about some CRG-related stuff, so I asked if he had any input and this was his reply:

"Regarding the...

Re: Help with my kyphosis

Hi Aaron :welcome:

I'm afraid I'm not much of an expert on kyphosis but I just wanted to welcome you to the site. I'm sure someone will be along to help soon though :)
