Hi there,

:welcome2:

I would definitely get checked out, because of the pain you're in. I'm no kyphosis expert so I can't really comment on the extent of your curve, but I'm guessing that as you're in the navy you're pretty active and exercise a lot - usually that would be beneficial for pain, yet you're still getting it.

Can your curve be straightened out if you stretch up or lie flat? True kyphosis can't be straightened in this way, but if your back can straighten out then you could benefit from exercises to retrain your posture and muscles to hold you in a better position.

Did they mention anything when you went for your medical checks to get into the navy?

Good luck, and welcome again :)

Hello there and welcome :tiphat:

I agree with Toni, it's always worth getting checked out by the experts if you are worried. It does appear from your photos that you have some kyphosis but I wouldn't like to guess whether this is within normal limits as the range is quite large. Also, the photo which shows you doing the 'forward bend test' suggest to me that you might have a slight rib hump on the right hand side (as viewed form the back on the photo) and so there may also be an element of scoliosis.

I think you should really go see your gp and ask for a referral to your nearest specialist. Where abouts in the country do you reside we may be able to point in the right direction or give a name of a specialist

welcome to sso

so just recently i noticed that when i walk, i have a limp now. i wish i knew my degree of scholiosis.

i talked to the doctor and said ive actually had it since boot camp. its getting really aggravating, i have to constantly pop my back. is that scoliosis? like, i mean its like i cant even walk without having to twist my spine to pop it every so many feet.
