View Full Version : Lad with Scheuermann's wins Britain's Got Talent
2nd June 2008, 09:57 AM
I didn't watch the show Britain's Got Talent, but I read in the news today that the winner of this show has Sheuermann's Kyphosis which is causing him problems with his dancing. I really, really hope that the news is just exagerrated and that he can continue dancing because he is amazing. It's always great to see people with spinal conditions excelling at stuff, simply because we have that little bit of extra difficulty to overcome.

Wow, i was reading this article this morning and couldnt believe it. I really hope he manages to continue his dancing. From my own experience i had to stop once dancing when i was 15 and that was all i had dreamed of doing for a career. I wish him all the best for his future and lets hope it brings awareness and shows people that even having scoliosis doesnt have to stop you living your dream!!

Its nice to see people with kyphosis doing physically demanding activities to a high standard. I was watching football last week and noticed that Frank Lampard has a very rounded back. I dont know if he has kyphosis or not but its great to see people with spines shaped differently getting on with it :)

Its nice to see a fellow sufferer doing really well and making a positive contribution to society. I hope this wretched condition does not inhibit his career too much

Ok now I'm officially confused, when we saw our GP for Ellen's back pain he told me that she had "a" scoliosis and subsequent x-rays have confirmed this. Having read the paper today re. George from Britains Got Talent the symptoms described for Scheuermann's all sound like Ellen's - can someone clarify for me?

Scheuermann's is a type of kyphosis which is a different condition to scoliosis. With scoliosis the curve is s shaped with kyphosis and in paticular Scheuermann's the vetrebrae are wedge shaped with push the out the ways giving a more pronounced hump.
I hope that makes sense
When i get a little time i will post some links for you to browse

Thanks Mark, I will take a look at the links - maybe not tonight though!
Re. your other post - good luck and good to hear you've talked things over with your GP.
