I finally got the courage to go to my gp and get some referrals to specialists.
I'm seeing an Orthopaedic Consultant in Cork on 15 th september and respiratory consultant on 23 rd September. Finally I might find some answers to questions that have been driving me mad for so long.......especially with regard to my fading lung function.

I won't ask how long it took you to find the courage...although I'm intrigued now.

Just to explain why I made the appointments!
I had my surgery in 1983 for a 110 degree curve but it was impossible to insert instrumentation or even correct the curve so it was fused with bone graft only.I've felt it was on the move again over the last few years and made an appointment with a consultant last year who ordered an x ray and said the fusion looked fine but I had extensive disc degeneration above and below the fusion. He thought I was there because of pain and I didn't effectively communicate why I was there.(my surgeon has retired)We didn't have any of my old x rays or medical records so I still didn't get an answer to my question.....Is the curve stable or not?The reason that I'm so slow about getting the referrals is that I'm basically terrified that I'll need more surgery while at the same time part of me wants to see my scoliosis improved from where it is.My lung function is about 50% and dropping as a result of asthma and scoliosis so I really need to see what's happening there as a priority.
So I decided to book some local private appointments to clear up the lingering questions and I have my medical records and old x rays now of course.
