August 2nd.... Officially my brace is done. Funny thing is I havent worn it for almost 2 months. I really wish that I had becaseu then today would be such an awesome day and I would feel like I accomplished something and feel sastified. On my last appointment in June, my doctor said 2 more months of part time (8 hours a day). I kinda just stopped wearing it.... I know I am a wimp. I consider myself very lucky becaseu I didnt even have it for a year and I know some of you had them for like 7 years FULL TIME! I commend you!
But life is too short to be saying "could, have, should have, would have". I am happy with my curve not increasing. I am assuming that my curve would have been the same if I had worn my brace because braces are only effective whwen you are growing and I have not grown. But what do I know :P

Anyway, I am now braceless and can say so without guilt (well just a little)! It is in the past! As liv said LETS PARTY!! :D :joke: :niceone: :-) :jump:   :pepsi:

PS. To anyone out there who still is wearing a brace, stick to it! Dont do what I did because in the end there is nothing really to be proud of! I missed a hoiday my mom promised me in the beginning if I wore my brace  :nut:

Hmm... How many people do we expect tonight to celebrate this event? About 25? So 10 bottles of champagne will do? And a bottle of orange juice for Kayla and Kaja... :joke: ;-)

Well done Carly! No-one here would have a go at you for not managing the brace full-time. We all know how difficult these things are. I'm one of those that wore a brace full time for 8 years but that was as a child...it can't be compared to your experience, so don't beat yourself up about it. Children just adapt to stuff like that. When I had a post-op TLSO after my surgery at 18 (after a break of 8 years with no brace) I didn't manage to wear the thing full-time either - and I was only supposed to wear it for 6 months!!!

Anyway honey, you've come through it and your curve hasn't increased, so it's all been a great success and you should feel proud of yourself. Definitely a good excuse to party!!!! :joke:

I want champagne too, since I didn't really get the chance to celebrate my birthday with my back and all. I'll have to make up for that somehow :-)

That's brilliant news Carly, I'm really happy for you. The world of braces is still ahead of me, but any positive experiences of them (if you know what I mean) is great to hear.

I can drink, so I'll be toasting you tonight over a glass of wine. Mind you, having just come back from a heavy weekend in Copenhagen at a wedding, alcohol is probably not what I should be drinking :D

No I am not going to burn my brace. It will be a neat keepsake that very few people get to keep. When I am old and fat (hehe) I can say to everyone that i used to fit in that. lOL

However tempting it is to tie my braces to the rear bumper of the car and drive in circles, I'll keep them to show my grandchildren. :-P

I would burn mine. I don't know where it is right now, I think my mum left it somewhere in the attic.

hee hee.......before you burn your braces, photograph 'em and stick 'em in the gallery!!!!Then at least you'll have a lasting memory of them :-D
My mother burned my brace last year.....apart from releasing noxious fumes and toxins into the atmosphere it also upset me to see it gone.Think carefully before you light that match!!!

I'd have liked to have kept my very last brace, the post-op TLSO I had when I was 18. It would be interesting to see if I could still squeeze into it :D

I always want to burn stuff I hate, like school books but I've never did it :-)
I'll have a look in the attic later today and if I can reach for it without having to climb in it (weird construction over here) I'll take a pic
