Browns my favourite colour. But yellow or white seems be the most a popular colour for wrist bands

A while ago I asked if there were any avaliable and suggested we made some and I'm sure there is a fund for them made by someone on the site, I'm so so so sorry but I've forgotten who that is

The website scoliosis.org have already done this.Their bands are due to be made available this month. The have the might of the NSF behind them and will no doubt be accepted as the official scoliosis awareness bands.

Sorry for all the questions but wow I'm def gonna get one! :D

Ok, the wristbands will be green I believe, with the three s shaped curves like in their logo.
Unfortunately SSO will not be proceeding with plans for wristbands any time in the near future. Our first priority is to deliver an improved support site for our members. To develop and distribute wristbands would deplete our funds and it is totally contrary to site policy to ask our members for funding. We do however have some exciting plans in the pipeline and we look forward to making some announcements in the near future. All will be revealed shortly.

I'm not just referring to the wristband colors but just the official color for "scoliosis awareness" like if we wanted to do the ribbon thing and whatnot. Who decides what color belongs to what awareness? I think blue seems appropriate only since most scoliosis things I see are in blue.

That would be great! Then we wouldn't have to worry about the donation issue we were having! I was looking there last night to find out information on how to get an official color. If those become the official wristbands, then no doubt will that color become the official awareness color. I was looking into getting ribbon pins made but I need a color! :D

Of course, being Irish,I feel green is a particularly fine colour. :-D

Well Sins, you are in luck! I emailed the NSF and they responded back stating that the official color is green! So there you have it! :D

I'm going through a real green phase as far as interior design is going, so it's a good choice. It's probably not the nice period green I have in my living room, but it'll be nice all the same :D . I wonder if they'll do mini ones for children?

BeckyH

i was thinking about this the other day, that's great progress has been made. i'm going to wear as many as i can fit on my arm :D

Kayla

The syringomyelia wristbands are blue, so I wouldn't think blue would be good for scoliosis. Green is nice as long as it isn't that dark dark green like the military wristbands. Yeeeuck!

butterflylr
26th July 2005, 10:03 PM
I was thinking that since the NSF is going to produce the wristbands, I would like to use the money already donated (if those who donated don't mind) to get some awareness ribbon pins made. They are MUCH cheaper and we might be able to get some done within our lifetimes (unlike with the wristbands! :D) Anyway, here's what I was looking at. They are a really good price, especially for volume orders.

AWARENESS PINS (http://www.pinscentral.com/xq/asp/item.005003/Licensee.76545/qx/showproduct.htm)

Edit: The pins would have NO ASSOCIATION with SSO unless you want them to. They would just be for general awareness. :D

Will we have to buy the wristbands directly from NSF?

Does anyone know how much they will cost?

Thanks Love Jules xxxxx

butterflylr
26th July 2005, 10:55 PM
My guess is yes you will. But I am not sure on the cost. You can email the person at scoliosis.org and ask them. :D

Jules

Oh rite I see, wow this is so exciting finally a wristband for scoliosis! :D

Many of you may not know, but I got some business cards printed for SSO. They should be arriving in the next 3 weeks! :D I'm excited!

Thanks Lindsay, I like my new avatar too! :)

Also I was going to comment, couldn't you use the wristband money to purchase wristbands from NSF as well? Seeing as how lots of people on SSO want some?

Just an idea....

I love those bracelets but only when people just use them for a fashion trend and they arent even for a charity. I think it is a good idea for scoliosis.

Yes, they are really nice. I was only able to get part of them with the glossy finish and those are really nice. The other ones are nice too but I prefer the glossy. PM me with some info of where to mail a portion of them and I'll get a quote on shipping for you if you'd like.

9th August 2005, 05:58 PM
Woo hoo! I talked to the NSF and this is what they said:

There are wristbands that have been made and are ready for sale they just arenít uploaded on the store page yet. They will be $3/ea. (they come with a magnet). They will come in two sizes; adult and children.

YAY! :bounce:

Jules
9th August 2005, 06:53 PM
yay!!! do you know when they will be uploaded? I'm so excited about seeing them :D

Kayla

Cool, a magnet too.

Lizzie89
9th August 2005, 08:30 PM
how do us english get them if there in dollars? I really do want one, or 5 :-D

BeckyH
9th August 2005, 09:11 PM
oh wow oh wow. i'm sure we can order them in bulk lizzie and get them delivered to one place maybe (it might be cheaper, postage wise that way) i guess we'll have to wait and see

sins
9th August 2005, 09:39 PM
Marmyte has a point! The delivery charges from USA to overseas can be a bit steep from Nsf, so if you bulk order between a few of you, it might be easier(and cheaper) for you.
Sins

BeckyH
9th August 2005, 09:45 PM
woo i made a good point for once! :D i imagine some of us may want multiple wristbands anyways but it would be easier to co-ordinate to have them all delivered to one person if that would work out. don't know how keen anyone else is on the idea though

andrea
9th August 2005, 10:00 PM
I'd be keen on chipping in with that - I want one for me and one for Erin. I have to admit, I'm not fond of these bracelets unless they mean something to you, as so many people use them for fashion and the point kind of gets lost, but seeing as they mean A LOT to us, then I'm all for it (gee, that was a long sentence).

I'm happy to co-ordinate things (and I have a paypal account) unless someone else wants the honour.

sins
9th August 2005, 10:05 PM
That'd be great andrea,you're duly elected!!!! :-D :-D

andrea
9th August 2005, 10:09 PM
Eeek, okey dokey. If they are already available, then lets start getting some numbers from people as to how many they want. Once numbers are collated we can order them. I'll order more than we need in case anyone is away or changes their mind or has a friend who wants one etc etc.

Don't want to steal Becky's idea though - it's still your job if you want it Becky!

BeckyH
9th August 2005, 10:11 PM
go for it andrea, i don't have a credit card and at the moment no income so unless i can rope my parents in i can't really do it. the job is yours, i second the motion :D i'll just find out how many we want...

BeckyH
9th August 2005, 10:14 PM
ok i would like at least 4 adult ones please. that figure may rise slightly but i'll keep you up to date

andrea
9th August 2005, 10:31 PM
I'd best start a spreadsheet :D :D

BeckyH
9th August 2005, 10:34 PM
that's far more efficient than i would be :D i'd be relying on this thread or a random scrap of paper. i'm going to do a quick check of my extended family and local people who are also affected and will update you

BeckyH

Jules
15th August 2005, 06:40 PM
Have you seen that the scoli-bands are now uploaded on the nsf website, I've just looked at them and I'm not sure, they may grow on me. I was hoping they would be more obvious that they were for scoliosis, but I suppose a band is better than no band! :D

butterflylr
15th August 2005, 07:47 PM
Yeah, that is a little bit of a disappointment. I wish they at least SAID scoliosis on them!

BeckyH
15th August 2005, 08:05 PM
the positive i thought of is that wristbands are so "over done" now that there are many meanings for one colour, making it more of a potential conversation point. people don't necessarily know what they're for so they may be more likely to ask you and you can give them the sales pitch, which may be more effective as you can put it so that people understand

Jules
15th August 2005, 08:06 PM
Yer thats very true Becky!

butterflylr

guacamoleoly

I just ordered mine! I'm so excited. At first I wished they had said scoliosis on them but now I agree with others - it'll bring more awareness about it I believe. I love the color and the logo :). Yay!!!

LightningRod
16th August 2005, 01:42 AM
I haven't visited this site in ages, but someone posted a notice about the bands in the Livejournal Gotscoliosis blog, so I had to come and make sure that this site was aware of them too.. how exciting! I hope everyone purchases one of these things! Imagine, it would be amazing to see another person wearing one, I have always wanted to speak face to face with another scoliosis patient...

Blair
16th August 2005, 04:13 AM
I ordered mine today too! I wish they did say scoliosis on them... one might see that little squiggly sign and just assume we were just wearing a green band on our wrists to go along with a fashion trend... But... Like somebody else said, better than nothing!
